What Should I do with that Old Website?

Ok the scenario is as follows, you have an old website, maybe you have done a rebranding exercise and changed the name of the company and so the web address. There are two possibilities…

a) Set up a landing page which redirects to the new web address

b) Set up a special type of redirect called a 301 redirect. This type of redirect gives proper credit by search engines such as Google for any “Pagerank” or standing that the old page had.

We have to do these types of redirections very often, in fact we have just done it for our old Live Solutions site, we rebranded a few years ago and left the site up as it was still ranking well with Google for relevant search terms. Have a look how we linked the old to the new at www.livesolutions.co.uk .
